I hate when the first game of the year feels like a big game. But this sure feels like a big game. Hopefully Death Row will knock the crap out of Rodgers and the LOB will take advantage of it. I'm not scared of their D, we should be able to move the ball and score points. Would love to see a couple of our younger guys make a real impact.

Was it pretty? Mostly not. Is it super encouraging? Not necessarily. But it's a goddam W and a W is better than an L any day of the week IMO. And particularly on Sunday. One to build on. So here's to hoping they actually build on it.

Well if that ends up being the case, and it's not due to injuries to other guys, I'll be happy. I guess I just still think of Prosise as a WR and it's been hard to think of him as a true RB as opposed to a scat back/receiving threat. I suppose it's time for me to get over that.

Honestly, if even two of these guys can live up to their potential (or in Lacy's case get back to the level performance that we know he's capable of) then I think the team can be successful.

I've played for years. I suck at it. I don't even have fun doing it unless my team is doing well which it almost never is. About the only thing fun about it is the draft. But so yeah, I'll probably have 2-3 teams again this year. Dammit.

Clearly it's an issue, and I think most of us have dealt or are dealing with issues like depression, anxiety etc...

I'm curious what people think. We often talk about mental health being overlooked and underfunded in this country... I wonder what are some of the things you guys think we could do better?

When I think of mental health, the things that come to mind to combat troubles are self-therapy (vacations, new hobbies, changes in routine, exercise, etc), self-medicating (drugs, alcohol, food, etc), and going to talk to a doctor about it. I'm curious as to what more can actually be done?

I'm looking forward to seeing guys like Earl and Tyler getting back to health. Definitely interested in seeing some of the new WRs & DBs and how that's all gonna shake out.

O line is interesting too. Hell, it's all interesting.

If it's a concussion and facial injuries, how bad can it be? Is his eye hanging out or something? Someone sneak in and get real information!

Happened to bfs. Maybe we should ask him to look into it.

Yeah man outside of the dropped touchdown he's really appeared to be on track to winning that starting job. Seems like a really likable dude too. With all due respect to Kearse, I'm really hoping that Kasen continues his impressive play and wins that job.

I don't see anybody willing to give up anything for him, and I can't imagine moving him saves us all that much money. At this point I have to believe they're probably gonna cut him and just seeing if they can maybe get a 7 for him real quick instead.

Took Tulip and Nina out to the pit to let off a couple rounds. Made it back home in time to catch the 2nd half of Cowboys/Falcons and then went out to catch the late game at a bar with my lil homie Armando as we are wont to do.

I don't mind Seahawksless Sundays. Stress free football is pretty enjoyable.

I feel like Baldwin is the obvious answer for a one dude show, but I'm gonna piggy back off a couple ideas already mentioned and say I'd like to hear Sherm, Baldwin & Bennett do a show together, and I'd like them to have a rotating panel of guests starting with Luke Willson and just working their way through the roster.

@sammyc521 said in Solo: A Star Wars Story discussion:

Man... it's not like these are the Special Editions.

It's a new movie based on things that have been covered and now removed due to them Death Star'ing the expanded universe.

I am curious to see the comedic tones now that they've changed the movie from Lord/Miller to Ron Howard and compare that to the comedy they had in TLJ.

One thing I noticed after a few watches was that the comedy in TLJ seemed way less invasive than the first watch. I guess that's probably just natural from becoming used to it but the jokes just seem much fewer and farther between after a couple watches where on initial watch it seemed like they were everywhere.

We have a culture of violence in this country that I'm afraid is beyond repair. From the world stage to the sandbox, we use violence as an acceptable way to manage a conflict. And we have an obsession with firearms. That's an obvious oversimplification of an obviously complex issue, but either way it's a recipe for disaster.

After Bennett pushed two female stadium employees, Acevedo said, Bennett addressed the women by saying, “Y’all must know who I am. I can own this motherf—–. I’m going onto the field whether you like it or not.”

Acevedo also said the 66-year-old paraplegic sustained a sprained shoulder when Bennett pushed her. A 28-year-old woman was pushed as well, per Acevedo.

Ok, so I guess I'll start posting these here to see if there's any interest. I don't know why I haven't been already but better late then never I guess haha.

For those who don't know, I do a bi-weekly podcast with a couple of my buddies, Chase & Aba. We go to places around Portland (burger joints, pizzerias, toy shops, comic books shops, arcades, go see movies, stuff like that) and then we podcast about it, and talk about other stuff that's going on in our lives, in the world, what we're playing, reading, listening to or watching. We started out looking for the best burger in town, now we're looking for the best pizza, and one day soon we'll move on to another type of food. So that's essentially what we do.

    Episode 81 is out today.

(Warning: mature content, though I use the word mature very lightly.)

    https://soundcloud.com/triplebpodcast/episode-81

Main subjects of discussion in this episode include: Chase's mom's wedding, Pizzicato review, Deadpool 2 review, Blade Runner, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lando's pansexuality, Obi-Wan Kenobi anthology film rumors, volcanic eruption on Hawaii, the #glitterbutt movement, the Santa Fe High School shooting, and a few movie/TV recommendations.

I'll post new episodes here as they're released, but you can always visit http://www.triplebpodcast.com for the most recent and past episodes.

Ok so there's an ape in the movie with a blue vest and some people are insinuating (based on the similarity of both the look of the character and some of the actions of the character and Mr McKesson) that it's supposed to be him. People were pointing out the similarities (some mockingly, as not all are fans of Mr McKesson) and then Deray himself tweeted about it, saying he was offended, after which Twitter got on his head for actually believing it was supposed to be him.

    Thoughts?

Btw, if you're unaware, Deray McKesson is a well known activist typically associated with BLM. He is respected by many as and activist but also disliked by many for being "corporate" or somewhat of a "sellout". I've no real personal opinion of him as I'm not familiar enough, though I have enjoyed some of his tweets. There's plenty of info on the web about him if you're curious.

Lucasfilm had already announced that they will not have a Star Wars presence at San Diego Comic Con this year, so expect any big announcements (before the big The Last Jedi push starts in the fall) to come this weekend at D23.

Biggest rumors so far are of a behind the scenes "sizzle" reel like the ones we got for both TFA & RO 6 months or so before their respective releases. It's possible we'll get a new full length trailer, but I don't really expect that until the fall.

Additionally, I'm hoping for announcements regarding the 3rd anthology film, or at least (and probably more likely) an official title for the Han Solo film. Probably lots of stuff about the under construction "Star Wars Land" and hopefully some info on the in production open world have being developed by EA Visceral.

    Star Wars word vomit.

Bound to be tons of Marvel stuff too, which I enjoy, but don't get my panties all moist over.

Anything coming up you're looking forward to finding out more about during these conventions? It's a pretty great time to be a nerd.

Clarification: there will be no The Last Jedi at SDCC so it's totally possible and probably likely that we'll get some good Star Wars stuff there. Should be a fun couple of weekends with lots of announcements either way.

I'm giving Rawls one more chance to prove he's not "injury prone" and that the last couple injuries were just unfortunate happenings. My faith in him not getting injured is about the same as my faith in Lacy keeping his weight down: cautiously optimistic. That said, even an overweight Lacy can be an effective runner and a real hard mother effer to bring down. A broken Rawls doesn't help at all.
