I'm just seeing selfishness. He signed what I believe was a front-loaded contract. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) So he was aware that the back-end of that contract wasn't going to be as rich as the front-end. The Seahawks invested in him with that contract and he should honor the entire agreement. Or at a minimum, fulfill all the duties required, like taking part in practice and showing up to meetings on time, while him and his agent are engaged in talks for a new contract or a trade. This horsesh*t of choosing when or even IF he will practice and all the public comments regarding the situation is just low rent.

I don't like that the younger players see this. He's showing how far one can push PC/JS. I really want PC to punish him the way he would any other player. I want to hear about the discipline handed down to him. He's only a part of a team and he needs to calm the "F" down, play by the rules, and either be all in, or be a hold out and go home.

I hope Earl isn't a leader on this team because this crap isn't leadership. Its grade school sniveling.

So Earl says he won't practice if anything slightly hurts. Then says if the Seahawks would invest in him he'd practice.

Not a good look. I think HE is done with US. Just get a vibe that option 1 is to get traded with a new Seahawk contract a distant 2nd.

He shouldn't play if they are really gonna trade him. For me, he either plays happy or he sits. I'm very wary of a disgruntled guy playing not to get hurt. I don't think he is really gonna be 100% in this game.

Woof. Well that MNF display was for the dogs. I'll throw the defense a bone though. Their performance surprised in a good way. Unfortunately that's where the the good times end. Some have strayed from the Seahawk Way and now I have to take Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll and John Schneider out of their comfy homes and put them in My Doghouse for reasons I shall now explain.

    1. Um... Russ kinda sucks so far this season. Why? Well, probably a number of things all at once. He's got a new OC that may not have many "...and if that play doesn't work just go school yard" type of plays that Russ is so famous for. I mean, the word has been since Schotty was hired that he would hold Russ more accountable. From what I've seen so far, it looks like a bad match. However in Schotty's defense, I'm not sure he has called a complete game to properly evaluate his approach to Russ and this offense. (More on that later.)
Another reason is the O-line is still sub-par. Maybe it takes a few games to really grasp the teachings of the new O-line coach Mike Solari, but it looks to me like the line is just as bad as always or at least Russ has no faith in them.
Oh, and can we talk about why the heck Russ is holding onto the ball for so damn long? Throw it, the fudge, away! Hot take right here: If Russ didn't hold the ball so long, Khalil Mack's stats wouldn't have looked as impressive and today we'd be talking about how Germain Ifedi actually did pretty good against the premier NFL pass rusher.

    Yeah, so chew on that!!

    1. Coach Carroll. Man, what was up with the whole not playing Carson in the 2nd half, then saying some garbage like "he was gassed"? I think you got called out on it and admitted it was a mistake. Or wait... Where you admitting that it was a mistake to be inserting yourself into the offensive playcalling and have Schotty dial up some long passes? They failed btw, and attributed nothing to an already stagnate offense. Bad Petey.

    2. I put this next one on John Schneider. In a baffling move, the Seahawks waived their veteran starting defensive tackle Tom Johnson to bring up a rookie db to the active roster. The idea was to re-sign Johnson after the game... I think. Well the Vikings just signed him so now he's making Viking money AND Seahawk money since his pay was guaranteed for the year. It was a great move by Johnson but how did JS not see that coming? And the kicker is that that rookie db didn't even play in the game!

The only thing that brings me solace in a sort of weird way is I saw a stat that during the PC/JS era, the Seahawks have had a few other seasons that started off with 2 away games. Guess what? We started 0-2 every time. So we got that going for us. Maybe the season won't be a total loss. One thing I do know is Russ, Pete, and John have to get their act together if they want out of My Doghouse. I can't take an entire season of this crap.

I haven't seen the Russell Wilson that I love to watch and cheer for at all in 2018. Is this the RW we'll have to watch until he fully gets command of the Schotty O?

I was kind of surprised the defense kept us in it. I say "kind of" because I don't think much of Trubisky. And it is ridiculous that there was all this offseason talk about becoming a running team, and through 2 games its clear the run is only there to keep defenses honest. This is a "Lets make RW a star!" offense. And RW has yet to show up through 2 games so far. That means we get to watch a disappointing offense week after week. We're only 2 games in and my mind is wondering towards the top 10 draft pick we'll have in next years draft. From what the Seahawks have shown to this point, my expectations for the season have been greatly reduced.

โ€œItโ€™s important for us to do a better job of getting guys in the building that arenโ€™t necessarily in awe of the Kam Chancellors and Bobby Wagners and Russell Wilsons,โ€ Schneider told 710 ESPN Seattleโ€™s John Clayton. โ€œWe want guys in that building that want to compete with them.โ€

This quote has been on my mind ever since I read it a few months ago. To me, it explains everything: 1) Why the reserves just didn't get it done when their time was called and also 2) Why I believe the future of the Seahawks is bright.

I get it. I really do. The time is mid-1970's and KISS just hired me to play guitar with Ace Frehley because Paul Stanley wanted to be the lead singer. As a kid now in the big leagues playing next to a person I idolize, I would be in awe and in no way would want to take his job. I want to have my picture taken with him!! I'm playing rhythm guitar next to THE ACE FREHLEY night after night! Man, I made it!!

Based on the words of JS, this is how I believe some players felt that were brought to the Seahawks at the positions of Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman. It most likely applies to other positions too. I mean the Seahawks had like 7 pro bowlers 2 years in a row in 2015 and '16. But the Seahawks secondary, the legendary Legion Of Boom, not only intimidated opposing offenses, they may have also become too Larger-than-Life to even compete against.

Now, in 2018, the Legion Of Boom is no more. Richard Sherman is a 49er, Earl Thomas is in a contract dispute and not showing up to Training Camp, and Kam Chancellor is having some difficulty coming back from a neck injury and may not make it back at all. Losing our Legion breaks my heart as a fan. However, their absence re-sets the table that brought to us our beloved LOB. Competition will again reign supreme. No one will be assumed the 16-game, no-matter-what starter at their position. This season, game and practice performance will dictate playing time. The adage that we've heard in countless Seahawk player interviews that "iron sharpens iron" will not only apply to the offense vs. defense battles but will now take place within the position groups.

The first iteration of Pete Carroll's "Always Compete" mantra brought us a collection of players that became NFL legends and brought Seattle their 1st Super Bowl. This season, the 2nd iteration begins.

And I am here for it.

I think that Boston paper reported it because he's a former Patriot. But this whole thing sounds so far fetched for JS/PC to offer up for any reason. Bell's point of a possible negotiation tactic is laughable. Brissett isn't scaring anyone. If its from the Colts or Brissett's camp it really sounds desperate.

Negotiations are weird though. Wouldn't doubt that is all this amounts to.

No, we should believe the leveraging has already begun between the #Seahawks, Russell Wilson's camp a year ahead of his contract ending
    Nathan Freeman @NateFreemanNFL
Should we not believe the Boston Globe?

(Cut and Paste from Gregg Bells Twitter)

Ah, Greg is thinking this is a Russell contract thing? So offering a two was supposed to indicate they are willing to have Brissett take over for Wilson should he leave?

I don't know if that would really shake the Wilson camp.

    Dear Lorde WHAT??

Hmm.... if they truly value the backup QB this much when does the Bridgewater to Seahawks trade talk start?

No lie, the backup QB spot isn't being appropriately addressed with Austin Davis and Mcgough (sp?) in my opinion. They can battle for a QB-3 spot but I don't like either as a 2. But using a 2nd rd pick on a backup qb? Not really a fan of that.

That is, IF the report is to be believed.

Ok, at the half I'm not really impressed with anything the Seahawks have going on in this one. Carson looked good but the fumble on the goal line just can't happen. Special teams giving up a punt return was disappointing. Ifedi stood out for the wrong reasons against Melvin Ingram. Russ was Russ but you could see him and his receivers weren't in sync. O-line started good but seemed to decline as the game went on.

Hopefully the backups will show out in the 2nd half. We'll see.

Good game! First stringers looked good. Shaquem had a team high 9(?) tackles and was flying all around. If I'm honest, I feel Dickson is our new punter. He can kick as well as Ryan but at a lower price point. Rasheem Green looked like a great pick. He'll be formidable on the line.

If I'm still being honest, I mostly watched Shaquem tonight. I didn't know I was gonna fanboy on him but I did. I was watching him like he was my son or something. Ridiculous. I'll shake it off after a couple games I think. But I know I'll be super protective of him and very sternly yell at my tv if the refs pick on him or a player gets in his face or something.

I formally declare that the rookie I sponsor this season is Shaquem Griffin. Dibs. I called it. Get your own rookie.

My rundown is only 3 leagues with no buy in. I'm the local HCF Free Leagues Commissioner!

First off is HCF Beasts League. This yahoo league was actually born out of a FF mutiny when the original commish didn't have the time and/or didn't really care about giving much attention to the league. Its a 12-team, 3 division keeper league. The draft is non-snake with the draft order determined worst-to-first from the previous season. Draft picks are also eligible for trades. I'm thinking of making this one a money league next season with a terribly modest buy in. If the league is up for it I'll look into how to do it.

Next, HCF Superstars! This is a basic 10-team IDP league at Yahoo. I am pretty hazy on how I came to be commish. I think the original commish had relunctantly quit. This league had been well established and it would have been a shame for it to (poof !) be gone so I stepped in to run it and keep it going. Its a great bunch of people who keep coming back year after year which, to me, means it really shouldn't be thrown away.

Finally, its Hawkscast.com Pehawks Dharma League! This 10-team league at Yahoo was the first to take on the Hawkscast.com name! This league also pays homage to the legendary Seahawks fan, Pehawk. People come together around campfires or beer bongs to be regaled with infamous tales of the escapades and goings-on of the one and (thank God) only, Pehawk. It is for this reason, his name shall remain, as tribute to our esteemed brethren of Seahawk fandom. And in my best Forrest Gump voice: "Thats all I have to say about that."

    Peace and Go Hawks!
