Trying out the fantastic dark themes like Slate, Superhero, and Darkly but they make the homepage text difficult to read in their own unique way. Just an fyi.... I'm just cruisin' around learning the ins and outs of the joint. Again, nice digs man... :sunglasses:

Got back a while ago. After turning on all the lights in the house I spent a little time rocking back and forth while petting the dog. Shot of whiskey later and here I am.

Clowns be damned I actually liked the movie. I think all the advertising saved me a bit. If that was the first time I saw Pennywise I might have walked straight the $%^& out.

I'm no movie reviewer but I have a couple takes on the movie. First off, I never read the book or seen the previous version of the film. So I'm not familiar with the story. An aspect I really liked was it had a Stand By Me - Goonies vibe. To me it wasn't a straight up horror flick. I liked the pack of kids at the center of the story. Also some of their parents were straight up evil themselves. Really lent to the story of the kids being on their own.

We'll see how well I sleep tonight but after some self medication I feel like I saw a good movie. I'm not nearly as freaked out as I thought I would be. Because of this, fans of the horror aspect of the movie may be a little disappointed but a good movie is a good movie. The movie isn't really my genre but, IT is a good movie.

I give it a 4 of 5 Hawks in the nest.

    Why dolphins are deep thinkers

Saw this on Twitter and it really blew my mind. The first 3 paragraphs:

"At the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Mississippi, Kelly the dolphin has built up quite a reputation. All the dolphins at the institute are trained to hold onto any litter that falls into their pools until they see a trainer, when they can trade the litter for fish. In this way, the dolphins help to keep their pools clean.

Kelly has taken this task one step further. When people drop paper into the water she hides it under a rock at the bottom of the pool. The next time a trainer passes, she goes down to the rock and tears off a piece of paper to give to the trainer. After a fish reward, she goes back down, tears off another piece of paper, gets another fish, and so on. This behaviour is interesting because it shows that Kelly has a sense of the future and delays gratification. She has realised that a big piece of paper gets the same reward as a small piece and so delivers only small pieces to keep the extra food coming. She has, in effect, trained the humans.

Her cunning has not stopped there. One day, when a gull flew into her pool, she grabbed it, waited for the trainers and then gave it to them. It was a large bird and so the trainers gave her lots of fish. This seemed to give Kelly a new idea. The next time she was fed, instead of eating the last fish, she took it to the bottom of the pool and hid it under the rock where she had been hiding the paper. When no trainers were present, she brought the fish to the surface and used it to lure the gulls, which she would catch to get even more fish. After mastering this lucrative strategy, she taught her calf, who taught other calves, and so gull-baiting has become a hot game among the dolphins."

    Love stories like this!

I feel a bit for the Vikes. Get your butt whipped up on in the NFC Championship then have the team that whipped you come play in the Super Bowl in your home stadium 2 weeks later. Ouch.

To make it worse, if the fans in Minnesota don't like it, they have to root for the ... Patriots?? Sorry, this is all too much to ask of any enemy of the Seahawks.

People of Minnesota: I wish you strength during this trying time.*

*But don't think I haven't forgotten about that whole "Poison Pill" thing.

    EDIT

After I posted this, found the following on the Twit machine:

Minnesota has to host Philadelphia and New England after this. That's like your wife telling you "I'm seeing another man... and he's gonna be staying with us in a couple weeks. And he's bringing his drunk brother from Boston. And they're gonna fight in our den." #MINvsPHI

My rundown is only 3 leagues with no buy in. I'm the local HCF Free Leagues Commissioner!

First off is HCF Beasts League. This yahoo league was actually born out of a FF mutiny when the original commish didn't have the time and/or didn't really care about giving much attention to the league. Its a 12-team, 3 division keeper league. The draft is non-snake with the draft order determined worst-to-first from the previous season. Draft picks are also eligible for trades. I'm thinking of making this one a money league next season with a terribly modest buy in. If the league is up for it I'll look into how to do it.

Next, HCF Superstars! This is a basic 10-team IDP league at Yahoo. I am pretty hazy on how I came to be commish. I think the original commish had relunctantly quit. This league had been well established and it would have been a shame for it to (poof !) be gone so I stepped in to run it and keep it going. Its a great bunch of people who keep coming back year after year which, to me, means it really shouldn't be thrown away.

Finally, its Hawkscast.com Pehawks Dharma League! This 10-team league at Yahoo was the first to take on the Hawkscast.com name! This league also pays homage to the legendary Seahawks fan, Pehawk. People come together around campfires or beer bongs to be regaled with infamous tales of the escapades and goings-on of the one and (thank God) only, Pehawk. It is for this reason, his name shall remain, as tribute to our esteemed brethren of Seahawk fandom. And in my best Forrest Gump voice: "Thats all I have to say about that."

    Peace and Go Hawks!

    Any cap guru's around here?

I'm thinking shopping Kearse is more about cap space (for a DT???) than performance. He had a rough year last year but his time spent getting and being on the same page with Russell is pretty valuable. What savings, if any, is there with trading/cutting Kearse?

I thought the kid made the 53 too. So we got the solid vet, 2 speedsters, the big tall guy, and Darboh. I didn't see enough of him to know what we got with him. What we lost was inconsistent but makes big plays guy. Darboh just needs consistency and I think the WR group as a whole will make up the big plays. We could be in a better spot IF they stay healthy.

Holy Snokes! I loved that flick! For me, it never dragged, I was never disinterested, I mean my mind didn't drift at all. Total focus, and thats not me At All! The fight with Rey and Kylo in the Thrown/Throne Room was spectacular. The movie was so visually gorgeous and exciting. Crystal fox/doggies were cool.... did I mention I loved this movie!! So surprised it was that much better than I imagined. Yeah, this Star Wars movie did it for me. The Last Jedi - #1, Empire #2. Rogue - #3, New Hope - #4, Force Awakens - #5. No idea why I threw out a top 5 but there ya go!! I'm too giddy... I gotta go read Last Jedi articles now that I can without getting spoiled!

@veda-the-moor Loved that post. Only problem I have with it is... its exactly why I love the new stuff!! I love that Luke is a wreck Han went back to doing the stuff he's always done, AND his kid turned out to be a effed-up SW version of a school shooter. I was heartbroken when Han got killed, but by his own kid?? In some ways I can't really put into words it was perfect for the new movie series. Luke re-gained Hero status by saving the rebellion at a time it was going to be completely snuffed out. Now they can continue their fight because of him. I like that he faded out like Yoda. I know its most likely something they all do but thats what I thought of when It happened.

The OG Trilogy was perfect for me at the time. It was easy to digest for me. Good guy, bad guy, Good team, bad team. Cowboys and Indians. But I've aged and with that I've been been beaten over the head with "Shit Happens". Life is not fair. If Luke was still heroic and was all the way through his life I probably would have been pissed. Its not that I don't believe in "Happily ever after" but you gotsta have some lows to make the highs that much sweeter. Luke's coming back and being a Hero again is a prime example. It was like Oh Snap! They woke up Grand Dad! Then he waltzes out and bails out the entire family.

Look, I'm not as deep as you guys are. I never got into the books and things.I never really got into deep discussions about the Star Wars lore. Kinda had no one to do that with. But I don't consider myself a casual fan. I love Star Wars. These movies make me not only happy, but really interested in it all again. Its back on the forefront of my life. Seahawks, Song writing, Donuts and STAR WARS. Its a great time to be alive, ain't it!!

P.S. I can't believe I'm going to submit this when I wrote it before coffee.

Wow!.... I just ran it past my wife and she's intrigued. We were going to move this year but a trip to London is tempting, and now even... possible?

    Little bit of backstory:

See, my wife has always wanted to go to London. I'm scared to fly. I'm feeling brave though about this trip. If there is even a remote chance I'll get on a plane, my wife definitely wants/demands to be there. So that means that the cost doubles. If I go alone it would break her heart.

Another thing is we've been planing on getting out of our apartment and into a house this year. It may just come down to 1 or the other.

Shaquem has got his combine invite!

And deservedly so. I wonder who he'll work with, LBs or DBs? Or both? It will be interesting to see if he will run the gauntlet. (If the gauntlet is that drill where players will have to run a straight line while catching passes from the left and the right. At least I think thats what its called??)

Coolio. I'm so happy to be here I can't even tell you! One thing I thought was odd was the twitter handle and the forum name don't match. We got Seahawks Fantable, Seahawks Podcast, and Hawks Cast Forum. Either renaming these for continuity or perhaps getting a seperate twitter handle for Hawks Cast Forum would be a couple options. Having the word "Forum" would hopefully indicate a community and get people to click through to the Forum.

I also would like to see some original content. I mean, y'all can get IN DEPTH on things so writing a few words and tweeting it out with a link back here to the rest of the article/post may increase some traffic.

Apparently I'm all about Twitter... (shrug emoji)

Also, encouraging live feedback during podcasts. Usually I'll see a list of topics y'all be discussing but no TIME to show up for the live event. I was there once or twice but I wasn't sure if you guys really wanted that live interaction.

Whatever is going on, it needs to be brought to the attention of the people. The twitter account needs to actively follow Hawk fans to get a couple follow backs. Facebook (sucks) same idea.

Ok, this typing spasm is about over. Need another cup of coffee. I'll revisit soon.
