The Seahawks added a well-known name to the competition for their kicking job, signing former Raiders Pro-Bowler Sebastian Janikowski Friday.
Janikowski, who was born and raised in Poland before moving to Florida when he was 16, was a two-time All-American at Florida State before being drafted in the first round of the 2000 draft. He went on to enjoy a memorable 17-year run with the Raiders before missing the 2017 season with a back injury. Known for his big leg, Janikowski tied the NFL record for longest field goal, making a 63-yarder in 2011, a record that has since been broken by one yard, and he holds an NFL record with 55 field goals of 50 or more yards.
Janikowski, 40, earned Pro-Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors in 2011, and over the course of his career has made 80.4 percent of his field-goal attempts and 98.9 percent of extra-point attempts.
